Fairfield Showground Community Centre Gets Green Light

Fairfield Showground’s long-awaited Community and Events Centre has secured state-level approval, marking the final step in the precinct’s masterplan. The $50 million project will deliver a flexible, multi-purpose venue for indoor recreation, entertainment, and community functions in Prairiewood.

Designed by NBRS Architecture for Fairfield City Council, the single-storey building will accommodate up to 3,000 patrons. While the site presented several challenges—including flood, biodiversity, heritage, and traffic constraints—an extensive consultant team addressed these issues to achieve approval.

The centre is expected to generate over 240 construction jobs and add new public facilities to one of Western Sydney’s busiest community hubs. As a result, the project will boost local event capacity and support the area’s growing population.
