Tweed Heads 13-Storey Affordable Housing Project Approved

A $38.9 million residential apartment project in Tweed Heads has been approved, clearing the way for a 13-storey building with in-fill affordable housing on Florence Street.

The State Significant Development consent allows demolition of existing buildings and construction of 59 apartments, including 12 affordable housing units to be managed by a community housing provider.

The approved scheme includes two basement levels for parking, with 71 car spaces and 116 bicycle spaces. The building has a gross floor area of 6,582.4 square metres on a 1,558 square metre site.

The approval also covers landscaping, public domain works, and upgrades to services and utilities. The project is expected to support 80 construction jobs.

The application was exhibited from 19 November to 2 December 2025 and attracted 15 submissions, including 11 objections, one submission of support and three comments.
